International Admissions

We welcome applications from international students. Our mission calls for students "to communicate across cultures as they prepare to become leaders in a dynamic world," and we value the opportunity to bring students of different backgrounds together to learn from one another. 
Completed applications must be submitted by January 9, 2023.

Application Materials Needed

English Proficiency
All candidates must demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English. We require non-native English speakers to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Duolingo English Test, or other equivalent test. To learn more about the English Proficiency test visit the web site or call (877) 863-3546 or (609) 951-1100. The Sonoma Academy code for the TOEFL test is 2491and scores must be forwarded directly to Sonoma Academy.

The following are the minimum English proficiency scores for consideration of your application:
  • TOEFL iBT: 80 (preferred but we will consider exceptions) 
SSAT
For students applying to enter Sonoma Academy in the 2022-2023 school year, the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) is not required. 

Transcripts & Recommendations
We require that applicants provide an official copy of their most recent transcript, as well as three recommendations, one each from your principal, math teacher, and English teacher. Feel free to request one more optional additional recommendation letter from a person of your choice. Please have your school send Sonoma Academy all above mentioned completed forms, transcript, and recommendation letters.

Campus Visit and Interview
This year, we will be providing virtual opportunities to connect with Sonoma Academy students and staff. If you are unable to attend one of these virtual visits, a Skype or telephone interview will be arranged after our admissions office receives your application.

I-20 Form
We will issue an I-20 to a student after the student has been accepted by Sonoma Academy and the parents have accepted and returned the signed enrollment contract with the tuition deposit and provided evidence of financial support for the first year of study.
 
Homestays
We are not a boarding school and do not have campus living facilities for interntaional students. We partner with a few trusted companies to manage homestays for our students. After acceptance, we will connect you with one of our trusted agents.
