A Vision for Sonoma Academy: 2023-2030
We are thrilled to share Sonoma Academy’s Strategic Plan: 2023-2030. We launched our strategic planning process last year from a position of great strength in large part due to our wonderful community of families and students, our dedicated board, and our deeply engaged staffulty.
We designed a broadly inclusive and intentional approach to our strategic planning process, which included our Community Design Day, school-wide surveys, hour-long empathy interviews with over 50 community members, and multiple forums with students, staffulty, alumni, and parents. Our final strategic plan is as much an affirmation of what we all cherish about SA as it is a vision for our future. It is designed to provide the compass—our “North Star” so to speak—that will guide us into our school’s next great decade.
Students and families choose Sonoma Academy for a dynamic educational program that is rooted in healthy risk-taking, a caring and empowering school culture, dedicated and engaged teaching, the strong bond of community and belonging, and the sense of safety and support that allows students to discover and express their authentic selves. The great opportunity before us is to make the most authentic and impactful use of our extraordinary region, our beautiful campus, our invested community, and our exceptional people to continue in the tradition of our founders who set out to make the best high school possible for our students and our community.
As Sonoma Academy looks to the coming decade with the confidence to dream big about who we are as an institution, we embark on this significant moment in our school’s history with optimism, audacity, and the resolve that will inspire us to reach new heights. We hope that as you read this plan, you will be energized by its direction and aspiration.

Sonoma Academy Is...
...the only private, independent, college preparatory high school in Sonoma County.
