Yi Yang

Yi Yang is the Managing Principal at Summit Engineering, Inc., a multi-discipline engineering firm located in Santa Rosa, California. Yi was born in China and came to the US in 1988. He graduated from Case
Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Yi is a licensed civil and structural engineer in multiple states, spending most of his career working on winery, residential, and hospitality project design and
management in Northern California and beyond.

Yi and his wife Lisa moved from Ohio to California in 2001. They landed in Petaluma and never left. They have three children, Ryan ‘23, Andrew ‘26, and Chloe '27. Lisa is also very active in the SA community supporting SAPA, BNO committee, and ROSA through out the year.

In addition to engineering design for wineries and custom residences, Yi is very passionate about public art projects, volunteering his structural design expertise to help artists creating large scale art installations, particularly at the annual Burning Man event, working on some of the most spectacular art projects.

Sonoma Academy is a continuously evolving state-of-the-art education facility. Yi decided to join the Sonoma Academy Board of Trustee, to put good use of his years of experience and expertise in design and construction projects, as well as supporting the Board and the School with strategic thinking and leadership development.
