Danielle is, in a word, flexible. Depending on the time of day, she might be teaching Spanish, leading a yoga class, creating art, spending time with her two sons, or flying through the air on a trapeze. She made the leap from Sonoma Academy parent to Sonoma Academy teacher in 2018, and she says she loves to work here because “our students are always engaged and enthusiastic about learning, the teachers are knowledgeable and dedicated, and there are so many choices to explore here.”
The drive to explore has always been a part of Danielle’s personality. After graduating from college, she set out for Ecuador, where she taught English and and also interned at an art museum. When she returned to the states, she settled in Sonoma County, where she started out as a substitute Spanish teacher at a language institute in Petaluma. She found that she had a knack for teaching, and went on to work in elementary schools in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol.
Although she loves teaching her Spanish classes, Danielle’s favorite part of the day is lunch in the Commons. “I love that we are provided with a healthy meal that we get to share with the whole community,” she says.
