Cassidy received her BS from Wake Forest University, double majoring in History and Chemistry. She then went on to do graduate work at Johns Hopkins University in History of Science. She began her teaching career as a peer tutor in college and then moved into a TA role in graduate school.
Now in her thirteenth year of teaching, Cassidy's first high school teaching job was at a boarding school in Maryland, where she was chair of the science department, coached tennis and soccer, and ran a girls’ dorm. Cassidy came to Sonoma Academy in 2014. She teaches courses in math, science, and even Humanities—classes such as The History of Science and Science Fiction.
Outside of school, Cassidy enjoys rock climbing, roller skating, Olympic weightlifting, cooking, and knitting. She is proud of her work and the work of the school because of the way the students progress into adulthood with the ability to think for themselves, treat everyone with respect, and stand up for what is right. She is proud to see our students work for more equity, using their voices to make change in the world.
