Ashley graduated from Sonoma State on January 19, 2018... and her first day at Sonoma Academy was January 26. “I worked in the Advancement department at SSU all through my college years,” she says, “and so when I heard about this job, it was a natural fit!” In her time here, Ashley has quickly become an indispensable member of the Advancement team, as appreciated for her attention to detail as she is for her warm and friendly nature.
Growing up in San Jose, Ashley had a great high school experience. She attended Lincoln High School, and she was just as involved as you could imagine. She played Water Polo, sang in Chamber Choir, served as Community Service Commissioner in ASB, and Co-Directed a service trip to rebuild homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Ashley was first in her family to graduate high school and went on to attend Sonoma State University.
At SSU, she experimented with several different fields until she settled on Human Development, with a minor in Early Childhood Education.
At Sonoma Academy, she focuses on another kind of development: as the Advancement Services and Gift Processing Specialist, she helps the school keep track of donations, prepare for events, and communicate with donors. As soon as she set foot on this campus, she knew she was somewhere special. As she learned about the school and spent more time here, she thought about what made it feel so special to her.
“SA is special, because it really encourages the growth of the whole person. It really says a lot about the school’s values, and it shows in our interactions with the kids.”, she says. In her free time, Ashley loves to explore the surrounding areas with her husband Chris and their pup Kia. Nine times out of ten she just ends up at the beach.
